Ambition of the Virus · Guide
Surviving a Japan-invaded era: from capital rushes to the bare-bones Virus start.
Factions and talent
- Each of the three rulers can discover 2 “talents” per year in their starting city.
- Officers automatically join in 101, 102, 104 and 105.
- The capitals Ye, Jianye and Chengdu hold faction-exclusive officers with unbreakable loyalty — if the Japanese find them first, execution is the only option.
- Chang’an and Luoyang harbor famous free officers, including Lü Bu with 175 Valor and the Sky Piercer halberd.
Walkthrough essentials
- Month 1: recruit the free officers in Chang’an and Luoyang.
- Month 2: take a capital before the Japanese redistribute their garrisons — capital defenders below 60 Wits cannot cast the flood tactic, and rivers around all three capitals allow encirclement kills (Chengdu’s 60-Wits defender is immune).
- From month 3: the Japanese spread their officers evenly across cities; shift to a war of attrition.
- Attack routes have been remade — press SELECT to view them on the map.
Economy and leveling
- Grund against the surrounding tribes: passive and dim, they make steady XP (except the Shanyue near Sun Quan).
- Level-ups boost Valor considerably — level as much as you can.
Weapons and armor
- Weapons and armor come in 5 tiers — judge them by price.
- Only two top-tier weapon shops exist, both on battlefields; they stock Dragon-scale Mail, Immortal-slaying Sword and other endgame gear at endgame prices.
Playing as “Virus”
The Virus start is 0 gold, 50 rice, one officer, 500 troops. The usual route: hunt for gold and rice, beat up the Qiang king, capture a few of his officers, and build from there.
